DCI takes to the digital airwaves! This past semester DCI launched a new student podcast which is hosted, produced, and edited by DCI students. As of this post, there are ten episodes and nearly 500 downloads already. Podcast team member Kelly Li wrote an article about the new venture which was published in the Arcadia Patch. For the Digital Communications Internship, Spring Preview is not only an event to cover and promote Arcadia High, but it is also an opportunity to publicize DCI itself! Running the DCI booth on Thursday, April 12, seven interns advertised the organization to prospective middle school students and parents while running fun activities.
New to the Digital Communications Internship or just want to brush up your caption-writing skills? Then this is the guide for you! Nearly all Digital Communications Interns will be required to write captions. This blog post will teach the basics to get new interns started.

Attending USC's High School Journalism Day, DCI interns learn about various topics, including social media marketing, video production, and newscasting, while having the opportunity to use professional technology. Five students from various Journalism Days relay their personal and DCI-influenced perspective of the event.

For the second time in the past year, DCI had the incredible opportunity to attend USC's High School Journalism Day which was hosted by the Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism. This was a full-day intensive program where our students were attending workshops with USC professors and staff. We greatly appreciate USC's hospitality and for this unique learning opportunity! The Arcadia Unified School District Digital Communications Internship (DCI) team for the Fall 2016 semester is officially unveiled! Of course, DCI wanted to make the announcement informative yet fun, hence the bitmoji board featuring all the interns.
After receiving a record 66 applications for the fall semester, DCI has more than doubled from the previous year and has 34 talented student interns on the team this semester. Last year, DCI completed the Spring 2016 semester with 15 interns. Prospective DCI interns all must complete an application and pass a rigorous 30-day probation period before becoming official DCIs. Congratulations to all these hard-working Arcadia High School students who have been hired! Great job on the graphic design bitmogi unveiling by DCI's Tiffany Wong! She's the one chugging the coffee! Applications for this semester are due Thursday, 8/24/17, by noon. No late applications will be accepted. Ensure your application is detailed, accurate, and very thorough if you wish to be considered for DCI. There will be an Informational Meeting on Monday, 8/21/17, during lunch in the Lecture Hall. All students are welcome!
Congratulations to DCI veterans Naomi Silver and Michael Tseng who were not only accepted into USC's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Youth Academy for Media and Civic Engagement, but who thrived during the three-week summer program. The program taught the students a greater understanding of media and journalism literacy and practices, and essential competencies required for excellence in and out of the classroom. The program offers the equivalent of first-year college level courses, and the students worked directly with USC professors and administrators. Congratulations to Naomi and Michael
